Background Details

In order to keep up with the growth of the Vex Robotics Competition, the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation (RECF) has put into place limitations as to the number of teams each area can qualify for the World Championship Event. In the US, the divisions are in place by State. Each State is allotted a number of slots based on the number of registered teams plus growth predictions. Pennsylvania was given 16 slots, 4 of which were given to the western half of the state, leaving 12.

Fall League Option

Discussed at the partners meeting, this involves turning the majority of the fall events into "League Days." A league is like a normal event, but with qualification rounds spread out over several events. Playoffs would take place at the last event of the league. It has been mentioned that league days would also feature seminars in the mornings. The league discussed in this model would run from September until December, with the playoffs shortly after.
